350 Tbi Map Sensor Symptoms Freind has a 89ish 350 Tbi motor that we are putting a new tbi setup on I agree on the map sensor vacuum you need manifold vacuum at all times to a few little problems like a dead plug wire and misadjusted timing and or EGR problems can all combine to look like symptoms of something else These things aside from the manifold gasket
Check the ECM coolant temp sensor as well not the one in the head that reports to the gauge on the dash If it fails it can cause rough idle due to incorrect fueling from the ECM due to the sensor giving incorrect data Had this problem with my 95 Tahoe 350 at one point and the failed coolant sensor ended up being the issue Long story short it will not rev up hold constant RPM idle or show a check engine light I tried unplugging the map sensor and it idled fine still missed a little and throttle response was terrible I am aware that unplugging the map increases fuel so obviously the motor is running lean Any suggestions or tips would be appreciated
